XShots Support

Learn how to localize App Store screenshots, batch-export languages and sizes, and connect a local MCP client. Find help with projects and purchases below.

Before you start

  • macOS 14.0 or later
  • Automatic translation requires macOS 15 or later and the applicable system language resources
  • Editing, translation, screenshot export, and MCP generation require an active trial, pass, or Pro Lifetime

Localize App Store screenshots

  1. Open your project and finish the English copy. English is the base language.
  2. Open the toolbar’s Localization menu, choose Manage Locales…, then use Add Language to add each target language.
  3. Select a language from the Localization menu and edit its text. On macOS 15 or later, you can also use the translation control beside a language in Manage Locales when that language is supported by the system.
  4. Review each language on the canvas and in Preview. Check line breaks, text fit, and screenshot order before exporting.

Exchange translations through CSV

In Manage Locales…, choose Export CSV…. Keep the exported row keys and language headers, edit the translation columns, then use Import CSV… in the same project. Review the imported copy in each language before export. Empty cells preserve existing values; they do not erase translations.

Batch-export languages and sizes

  1. Prepare a layout for each target platform in your project, then use Preview to check the screenshot sequence.
  2. Click Export in the toolbar. Choose PNG or JPEG and select the target sizes offered for your project’s platform layouts. Use Select All or Largest Only when appropriate.
  3. Check the Summary, including Sizes, Languages, and Total Images. Export includes the project’s screens in English and its added languages, rather than only the language currently shown in the editor.
  4. Click Export, choose a destination folder, and wait for the export to finish.

For example, a project with three iPhone screens, English plus Japanese, and two compatible iPhone sizes produces 12 images. Review the exported files, then upload them through your store’s publishing tools. XShots does not upload screenshots directly to the stores.

If a size is missing, check that the project includes the corresponding platform and a compatible layout. If export is unavailable, check your access in Settings → Billing and select at least one size.

Set up local MCP automation

  1. Open Settings → General → MCP Server in XShots and copy the CLI Path.
  2. In your MCP-compatible client, add a local stdio server using that path as the executable command. Configuration fields vary by client; use its local-server setup instructions.
  3. Ask the client to list XShots templates and device frames first, then choose a template and provide the copy and source screenshots for its slots.
  4. Generate a small set first and inspect the returned images and any text-fit warnings before making more.

Example request to your connected AI client:

List the available XShots portrait iPhone templates and device frames. Help me choose a template for three screenshots, then ask for my source images and headlines. Generate PNG previews and return the images here for review.

For the Mac App Store sandbox build, the client should send screenshot bytes through the image data input and omit output_directory to receive images in the response. A file path visible to the client may not be readable by XShots. Local rendering does not determine the AI client’s privacy practices; check that client’s settings before sharing source material.

Projects and purchases

Where are my projects stored?

XShots keeps its working project library locally in app-managed storage and does not upload it to SelfArk. Use Export from a project’s context menu to save a Finder-accessible backup, and Import Project to restore or move it.

How do I restore access?

Open Settings > Billing and choose Restore Purchases. Make sure the Mac is signed in to the Apple Account used for the purchase and that automatic date and time are enabled.

What happens when a trial or pass ends?

Existing projects remain available in read-only mode so they can be viewed and exported as project backups. Creating or importing projects, editing, exporting screenshots, and MCP generation require active access.

How do I find the MCP server?

Open Settings > General > MCP Server and copy the CLI path. Configure that executable as a local stdio MCP server in a compatible client. The selected client may have separate privacy and data-handling practices.

How do I move a project or template?

Use the project and template import or export commands in XShots. Keep each project folder intact so its project file and assets remain together.
